2. When does registration close?
It doesn’t. You can register any day, including during the event.

3. What is the student registration fee?
The TechOlympics Expo 2012 student registration fee is $150. Financial aid is available to students who apply.

4. Overall, what does the student registration fee cover?
The student registration fee covers a three-day conference Expo wristband, all costs for Friday and Saturday night hotels rooms, all meals from dinner Friday to lunch Sunday, one official TechOlympics Expo 2012 t-shirt, and all activity fees, awards, and other related fees.

5. Are students allowed to leave the Millennium Hotel during the conference?
All students are expected to stay at the Millennium Hotel from when they sign in between 3-5pm on Friday until 3pm Sunday, when they are dismissed. Exceptions will be made by special request only (click here to download the Special Request to Leave Form).

6. What is the Faculty Coordinator/Coach for participating high schools responsible for and expected to do?
As Faculty Coordinator, you are in charge of overseeing and serving as a point of contact for all of the students who attend TechOlympics Expo 2012 from your school. Please contact(link) Doug Arthur or Kyle Gundrum for more information about your role as Faculty Coordinator/Coach.

7. Is there a minimum or maximum number of students per school who can register?
Any number of interested students can register to represent and compete for their school at TechOlympics. Brackets are initially limited to 5 students per event per school.

8. How many competitive events can each student participate in?
Initially, students can register to participate in two competitive events. During TechOlympics Expo, additional slots will be made available for select event. There are unlimited opportunities to compete at “TopCoder Corner” in nonamesite.com games to earn bonus points for your school.

9. Do students need to participate in bracketed/open field competitive events to earn points for their school?
No! In addition to participating in standard competitive events, students can earn points for their school by submitting entries to “Cincy’s Best School Newspaper”, “Cincy’s Best Student Website”, “Cincy’s Best School Yearbook”, and “ArtTech Graphic Design Competition”.

Students can also win up to 10,000 bonus points for their school by playing the nonamesite.com games in “TopCoder Corner” at TechOlympics Expo 2012. Schools should bring their brightest “math wizards” to make it possible to earn the most bonus points! These are math games that do not require typical gaming skills. Register yourself now or any time before the Expo at nonamesite.com and begin practicing to hone your skills at these games. WARNING: They can be tricky!


10. What prizes/awards will be given for each event? What about for the top scoring school?
The winners of each event will be awarded a certificate and a customized t-shirt. The overall top scoring school will win the “INTERalliance Cup”, which the school can keep and display for one year, until the next TechOlympics Expo or TechJAM event.

11. What time does registration open on March 2nd at the Millennium Hotel?
Registration opens on Friday, March 2nd at 3:00pm.

12. What time does the event end?
TechOlympics Expo 2012 ends on Sunday, March 4th at 3:00pm.

13. Is parking included in the ticket price?
No, parking is not included with a TechOlympics ticket. You are on your own; parking is NOT reimbursed. The INTERalliance suggests that students should be dropped off at the Millennium Hotel on Friday after school and picked up on Sunday at 3pm.

14. Can guests come along with a participant, just to watch? Can parents come to watch? Teachers?
Each school is permitted to bring two faculty coordinators who will be responsible for all of the students (and the event, if their school is hosting). Any other faculty is permitted to a "Guest Faculty Pass" as well. Parents and other guests are invited to attend as event volunteers, but not as observer-only guests.

15. How can a student apply for financial aid?
When you are registering for TechOlympics Expo 2012 online and you reach the “Payment” step, click the button indicating you are interested in applying for financial aid. The Steering Committee will send you information and an application for financial aid.

16. Can students bring their game controllers or use their own Mii? Can they bring their own laptop or equipment?
No, you are not permitted to bring any electronic gear except your cell phone. You must use the gaming equipment provided by the TechOlympics Expo 2012 staff.

17. Who are the adults chaperoning the event during the day and overnight?
Faculty members from the participating high schools, members of the Board of Directors of INTERalliance, the TechOlympics Expo Steering Commitee, college faculty members and graduate students (over 21 years of age) and parent volunteers. Background checks will be performed for all adult participants.
